‘You Light the Way’ nomination deadline extended

For the past 27 years, the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education (CAC) has sponsored a special recognition dessert to honor persons who make outstanding contributions on behalf of special education students.

This could include teachers, administrators, classified personnel at sites, transportation personnel, parent volunteers, students, agency staff, community workers and beyond.

We are looking for your nominations and have extended the deadline to Tuesday, Jan. 31. Click here for the nomination form.

Please return nominations by email attachment, fax or district mail to Kathy Olcese, Special Education/Kenneth Avenue, at kathy.olcese@sanjuan.edu or by fax at (916) 979-8921.

2017 Teacher of the Year nominations now being accepted

Last year's TOY The San Juan Unified School District and the Board of Education realize that there are many outstanding employees in service within the district.  To recognize outstanding teachers, the district is now accepting nominations for the Teacher of the Year program.

Two Teachers of the Year will be selected based on the nomination form, application, interviews and possible classroom observations.

If you know a teacher who goes above and beyond for the San Juan Unified School District and the surrounding community, you may nominate him/her for consideration. Any San Juan employee or member of the surrounding community may submit a nomination.
Nomination forms are due by Wednesday, March 16, 2016 and may be found online at www.sanjuan.edu/TOY.

Hearts Who is your role model in San Juan Unified?

The annual Spirit of San Juan awards honor individuals and groups in our school communities who exhibit exceptional character. We need your help finding remarkable people who embody what it is to have the ‘Spirit of San Juan!’

Do you know a student who is a role model for others? A group who makes a difference on campus? A teacher whose dedication shines inside and outside of the classroom? Nominate them for a Spirit of San Juan award and help recognize outstanding character in your school community!

The nomination deadline is March 3, 2016. Multiple nominations for the same individual or group will be accepted.

Winners will each get to be the star of their own short video feature recognizing their positive contributions. The videos will premiere at a special Spirit of San Juan awards celebration April 19, 2016.

We’re looking for nominations for this year’s You Light the Way event! Please help us spread the word.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Special Education sponsors the You Light the Way recognition event to honor people who make outstanding contributions on behalf of special education students. Please nominate someone you know who deserves recognition, and encourage others in your building or department to do so as well.

The You Light the Way event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the San Juan High School auditorium. Nominations are due to Kathy Olcese by Jan. 20, 2016. Forms can be faxed to (916) 979-8921, emailed to kathy.olcese@sanjuan.edu or sent via district mail to Kathy Olcese in Special Education at the Kenneth Avenue office.

2016 Classified Employees of the Year Nominations now being accepted

The San Juan Unified School District and the Board of Education realize that there are many outstanding employees in service within the district.  To recognize classified employees, the district is accepting nominations for the Classified Employees of the Year in the following six categories:  Child Nutrition, Maintenance and Operations, Office and Technical, Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance, Support Services and Security, and Transportation.  The outstanding employees in each category will be announced at the Board Meeting on January 26, 2016.  Finalists will be entered in the Sacramento County Classified Employee of the year program.

If you know a classified employee who goes above and beyond for San Juan Unified School District and the surrounding community, you may nominate the employee for consideration.  Any SJUSD employee or member of the surrounding community may submit a nomination.  Nomination forms can be downloaded here.
